SIBU – The construction of Surau Ansorullah in Kampung Saujana, Jalan Jerewit, is progressing steadily, reflecting the government’s commitment to strengthening religious and community facilities in the area.
Sarawak’s Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, and Nangka State Assemblyman, Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee, together with Bukit Assek Assemblyman Joseph Chieng Jin Ek, visited the site on Saturday to review the project’s status and receive updates from the implementing team.
Datuk Dr Annuar emphasised the importance of the surau as a centre for worship and community activities, particularly for residents of Kampung Saujana and nearby areas.
He expressed hope that the project would be completed on schedule, allowing the facility to be used in the near future.
He also highlighted the need for strong cooperation between contractors, village committees, and relevant agencies to ensure smooth implementation.
“The construction of the surau is very important as a centre for worship and community activities, especially for the residents of Kampung Saujana and the surrounding area,” he said.
The project, funded by the Sarawak Government with an allocation of RM1.2 million, is expected to serve as a catalyst for strengthening religious and social activities.
It will also provide a platform for fostering closer ties among local residents, enhancing community spirit and cohesion.
The visit by GPS representatives underlined their continued commitment to ensuring that public and religious facilities are developed to meet the needs of the people.
The surau project is part of broader efforts to improve infrastructure and community facilities across Sarawak, reflecting the government’s focus on well-being and inclusivity.
Community leaders have welcomed the initiative, noting that the surau will not only serve as a place of worship but also as a hub for gatherings, educational programmes, and cultural activities.
The facility is expected to play a significant role in enriching the social fabric of Kampung Saujana.
