KUCHING, 2 May 2026 – The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) in Kuching, together with Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department and Sarawak Narcotics CID, carried out a coordinated operation on entertainment premises in Kuching city, leading to multiple arrests and drug-related findings.
According to an official media statement released by Kuching District Police Headquarters, the operation was conducted in the early hours of 1 May 2026, from approximately 12.15am to 1.00am. The joint enforcement team inspected four entertainment centres around Kuching as part of ongoing efforts to curb drug abuse and illegal activities.
During the inspection, a total of 30 individuals were found to have tested positive in preliminary urine screening tests involving various types of drugs. The individuals were immediately detained for further investigation.
Following the operation, six suspects were remanded under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code for one day until 2 May 2026. Another 24 suspects were remanded for three days, from 2 May to 4 May 2026, to assist investigators in the ongoing probe.
Kuching District Police Chief stated that the success of the operation was the result of continuous intelligence work and close cooperation with various enforcement agencies, as well as support from the public. He emphasized that the Royal Malaysia Police will not tolerate any involvement in drug distribution, possession, or protection of drug-related activities.
He further stressed that drug abuse remains a serious national issue and a major threat to society, especially among the younger generation. The Narcotics Crime Investigation Department remains committed to intensifying enforcement actions to combat drug-related crimes and safeguard the future of the nation.
