Padawan Police Crack Down on Illegal Street Racing

Padawan: Padawan police carried out a firm and coordinated operation over the weekend to curb illegal street racing and gang-related activities along the busy Pehin Sri Adenan Satim Highway. The move reflects ongoing enforcement efforts to ensure road safety and restore public confidence in law enforcement.

The operation, known as “Ops Samseng Jalanan,” was conducted between the night of 2 May and the early hours of 3 May 2026. Officers from the Royal Malaysia Police worked together in an integrated approach, targeting individuals suspected of engaging in reckless and unlawful road behaviour.

During the operation, a total of 114 vehicles and 105 individuals were inspected. Authorities issued 96 summonses for various traffic violations, highlighting the scale of non-compliance among road users involved. In addition, 13 motorcycles were seized due to serious breaches of road regulations. Five individuals were arrested for dangerous riding activities, including performing risky stunts on public roads.

Police reported that most offences involved heavily modified motorcycles that did not meet legal specifications. Other common violations included riding without valid licences and displaying non-compliant registration numbers. Of particular concern were dangerous actions such as wheelies, zig-zag riding, and extreme manoeuvres, which pose significant risks not only to the riders but also to other motorists.

According to enforcement officers, such behaviour is often linked to street gang culture, where individuals seek attention and recognition through risky stunts. However, authorities stressed that public roads are not venues for such activities. The consequences, they warned, can be fatal.

The police also called on parents and guardians to play a more active role in monitoring their children’s movements, especially during late hours. Many of those involved in such activities are youths who may not fully understand the dangers or legal implications of their actions.

This latest crackdown sends a clear message that reckless behaviour on Malaysian roads will not be tolerated. Enforcement operations are expected to continue, particularly in known hotspots, as authorities aim to reduce accidents and maintain public order.

In conclusion, the Padawan district police remain committed to safeguarding road users and addressing illegal street racing. Public cooperation, combined with consistent enforcement, is seen as key to preventing such activities from escalating into more serious incidents.
