NEGERI SEMBILAN – The 2026 Senior Officers’ Conference (SOC) of the Public Works Department (JKR) Malaysia convened at Hotel Royale Chulan Seremban on 6 May 2026, bringing together senior leadership from across the country to discuss the future of infrastructure and service delivery.
Themed “Driving JKR Smart Reform”, the annual gathering attracted 450 participants, including top management, senior directors, branch directors, state directors, district engineers and other senior officials.
The conference served as a platform to strengthen collaboration, share knowledge and highlight innovative approaches to public works management.
The opening ceremony was officiated by YB Datuk Seri Dr Haji Ahmad bin Haji Maslan, Deputy Minister of Public Works Malaysia.
In his address, he emphasised the importance of reform and innovation in ensuring JKR continues to deliver efficient, modern and high-impact services nationwide.
Sarawak Public Works Director, YBhg. Datu Adj. Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr Cassidy anak Morris, was among the attendees representing Sarawak.
His participation underscored the state’s commitment to adopting new technologies and strategies that can enhance infrastructure development and governance.
Throughout the conference, delegates engaged in paper presentation sessions, strategic initiative launches, exhibitions and networking programmes.
Among the highlights were the unveiling of the FlexRevive product under the slogan “Wrap it Right, Flex It Bright”, the launch of Electric Vehicle Charging System (EVCS) guidelines, and the presentation of JKR Malaysia’s Outstanding Contractor Award.
The exhibition showcased cutting-edge technologies and innovations with potential applications in infrastructure projects.
The Sarawak Public Works Director toured the exhibition grounds to explore solutions that could be adapted for projects in the state, reflecting Sarawak’s proactive approach to modernising its infrastructure.
The SOC 2026 reaffirmed JKR’s role in driving transformation and excellence in public service delivery. By fostering collaboration across states and departments, the conference highlighted the department’s dedication to reform, innovation and sustainable development.
The participation of JKR Sarawak demonstrated its ongoing commitment to strengthening networks, empowering governance and ensuring that infrastructure projects continue to meet the needs of communities while supporting national development goals.
