JKR Sarawak Hands Over New Girls’ Dormitory at SMK Luar Bandar Miri

MIRI – A new girls’ dormitory block at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Luar Bandar Miri has officially been handed over, marking a significant improvement in the school’s facilities and student welfare.

The dormitory, completed under the supervision of JKR Sarawak, can accommodate up to 300 students. It is expected to provide a safer, more comfortable and conducive living environment, particularly for those from rural areas who travel long distances to attend school.

The handover ceremony on 23 May 2026 was attended by senior officials, including Pn Hajah Masnah binti Abang Abu Bakar, Senior Assistant Director of the Infrastructure and Procurement Sector at the Sarawak State Education Department; Ir. Stephen Ung Neng Hui, Divisional Engineer of JKR Sarawak Miri Division; Encik Ilamaran a/l Subramaniam, Principal of SMK Luar Bandar Miri; as well as JKR officers and school educators.

The completion of the dormitory strengthens the educational infrastructure at SMK Luar Bandar Miri, ensuring that students benefit from improved access to education and enhanced welfare support.
