MINA – The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, together with Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, welcomed the Governor of Melaka, Tun Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Ali bin Mohd Rustam, and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Wira Dr Hajah Asmah binti Abdul Rahman, during a visit to his accommodation tent in Mina on 28 May.
The meeting took place in a warm and cordial atmosphere, reflecting the spirit of brotherhood and unity among Malaysian state leaders who are performing the Hajj pilgrimage.
The gathering highlighted the close ties between Sarawak and Melaka, with both governors sharing the sacred experience of worship in the Holy Land.
Also present at the occasion were Sarawak’s Minister of Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts, YB Dato Sri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, accompanied by his wife, Datin Sri Hajah Zuraini binti Abdul Jabbar, along with members of the ministerial entourage.
Their presence further underscored the significance of the meeting, which brought together leaders from different states in a setting of faith and devotion.
The visit was marked by friendly exchanges and mutual respect, with both governors emphasising the importance of solidarity during the pilgrimage.
Such encounters are seen as opportunities to strengthen relationships beyond political and administrative duties, fostering unity among leaders who share the same spiritual journey.
Tun Pehin Sri expressed his gratitude for the visit, noting that the occasion symbolised the enduring bonds of friendship and cooperation between the states.
He conveyed his hopes that all pilgrims would be blessed with good health and that their acts of worship would be facilitated until the completion of the pilgrimage.
The gathering in Mina comes at a pivotal stage of the Hajj, as pilgrims continue with essential rituals, including the throwing of the Jamrah, sacrificial rites, and the shaving or cutting of hair.
These acts mark the fulfilment of major obligations before pilgrims return to Mecca for the final stages of worship.
The presence of Malaysian leaders in Mina highlights the shared experience of Muslims worldwide, who gather annually to perform the fifth pillar of Islam.
The visit between the governors of Sarawak and Melaka serves as a reminder of the values of unity, humility, and compassion that underpin the pilgrimage, reinforcing the collective spirit of the Hajj.
