SAINS Contributes RM1 Million Zakat to Strengthen Community Welfare

KUCHING – Sarawak Information Systems Sdn Bhd (SAINS) has reinforced its commitment to corporate social responsibility with a RM1 million zakat contribution to Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak.

The handover took place on 29 May 2026 during a courtesy visit to the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, at his office.

The contribution was presented by SAINS Deputy Chairman, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Abdul Aziz bin Dato Haji Husain, to the President of the Sarawak Islamic Council, Datuk Haji Misnu bin Haji Taha.

The ceremony was witnessed by the Premier of Sarawak and SAINS Chairman, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan Hong Nam.

This initiative highlights SAINS’ dedication to fulfilling both corporate and Shariah responsibilities while strengthening institutional collaboration with the Sarawak Government.

The zakat contribution is expected to support welfare programmes and community development initiatives across the state, particularly for vulnerable groups.

Also present at the ceremony were Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department Datuk Dr Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Junaidi; SAINS Board Member Dato Sri Dr Haji Wan Lizozman bin Wan Omar; Chief Executive Officer of SAINS Busiai bin Seman; Board Member of SiliconNet Technologies (SNT) Sdn Bhd Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah bin Haji Zaidel; and General Manager of Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak Datu Abang Mohd Shibli Abang Mohd Nailie.

The zakat contribution reflects SAINS’ ongoing role in supporting community welfare initiatives, particularly through collaboration with Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak.

Funds will be channelled to programmes assisting the poor, elderly, orphans, individuals with chronic illnesses, people with disabilities (OKU), and new converts.

By aligning corporate responsibility with social welfare, SAINS continues to contribute to Sarawak’s vision of inclusive and sustainable development.
