The issue, which affected water clarity in multiple neighbourhoods, prompted public concern as households reported discoloured and unpleasant-looking tap water. The matter was later escalated to SWSB for urgent attention.

Following the complaint, SWSB teams carried out immediate flushing works on the affected pipeline system. The operation was aimed at removing accumulated debris and sediment that had built up inside the water distribution pipes, which was identified as the main cause of the discolouration.

After the maintenance works were completed, residents reported a noticeable improvement in water quality, with clearer and more satisfactory tap water supply restored to the affected areas. The prompt response from the utility provider has been welcomed by local representatives and residents alike.

Councillor Gerald Goh, representing Ward H under the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), expressed his appreciation to Sarawak Water Sdn Bhd, particularly to Encik Razali and the maintenance team involved in resolving the matter. He noted that the quick response played a key role in restoring normal water supply conditions for the community.

He also encouraged residents who are still experiencing similar issues, such as yellowish or discoloured water, to lodge reports through the official SarawakWater mobile application. Alternatively, affected individuals may reach out directly to his office for assistance in coordinating with the relevant authorities.

According to him, continuous monitoring and public feedback are important to ensure that water supply issues are addressed efficiently and do not persist in the community. He further thanked SWSB for their commitment and consistent efforts in maintaining water service quality.

The incident highlights the importance of regular maintenance in water distribution systems, especially in growing residential areas where demand and infrastructure usage continue to increase. Authorities are expected to continue monitoring the situation to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
