APM Lawas Assists in Locked Car Incident at Hypermarket

LAWAS – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Lawas District successfully resolved a locked car incident at the LEPAPA Hypermarket on 8 June 2026.

The Lawas District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) received an emergency call from the public regarding the case. Upon arrival, the complainant explained that his vehicle had been locked with the keys left inside.

The MyASPA-O 02 squad, consisting of three members, immediately carried out the operation using specialised car lock door equipment. Thanks to their swift and careful action, the vehicle door was opened safely without causing any damage.

Officials confirmed that no injuries were reported during the incident, either among personnel or members of the public.

All equipment used was inspected after the operation and found to be in good condition. The squad returned safely to PKOD once the situation was resolved.

APM Lawas highlighted that its personnel remain on standby 24 hours a day to provide emergency assistance and humanitarian services to the community.

The agency continues to stress the importance of contacting trained responders in such situations, as attempting to force open locked vehicles without proper tools can result in damage or injury.

Cases of locked vehicles are not uncommon in Sarawak, particularly in busy public areas such as shopping centres and markets.

Emergency responders have repeatedly reminded motorists to remain vigilant and to keep spare keys accessible to avoid unnecessary risks.

Community leaders in Lawas have praised APM’s readiness and professionalism in handling diverse emergencies, ranging from road accidents to fire incidents and technical assistance cases such as locked vehicles.
