MIRI – On 11 June 2026, a joint monitoring exercise was carried out at several water supply stations in N74 Pujut to assess public consumption and ensure the safety of the water provided to the community.
The visit, led by DUN N74 Pujut representative Adam Yii, who also serves as mayor of Miri City Council (MBM), highlighted the importance of inter-agency cooperation in maintaining essential services.
During the inspection, the Ministry of Health conducted scheduled water quality tests to confirm that the supply remained clean and safe for residents.
Yii expressed satisfaction with the professionalism and commitment shown by all agencies involved. He noted that the coordinated approach had reassured the public, allowing them to await the restoration of water supply with greater confidence.
The monitoring exercise coincided with ongoing pipe repair works in the area. Officials emphasised that such collaboration is vital in ensuring that disruptions are managed effectively and that residents continue to receive reliable updates on progress.
Water supply management remains a critical issue in Sarawak, particularly in urban centres such as Miri, where demand continues to rise.
The Ministry of Health’s role in conducting regular quality checks is seen as essential in safeguarding public health, while local councils and utility providers focus on infrastructure maintenance and repair.
Yii underscored that the success of the operation was due to the dedication of each agency in fulfilling its responsibilities.
He added that the cooperation demonstrated during the exercise reflected a broader commitment to community welfare and service delivery.
The inspection at Pujut serves as a reminder of the importance of transparency and accountability in public service.
By working together, agencies are able to address challenges more effectively, ensuring that residents can rely on safe and sustainable water supply systems.
