LAWAS – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in Lawas District responded swiftly to a road accident on Jalan Batu 2 on Tuesday evening, 14 July 2026, after receiving an emergency call from Lawas Hospital.
At 8.16 pm, the MYASPA-O 03 Squad was mobilised to the scene. By 8.23 pm, the team had arrived and discovered an adult male victim lying on the roadside. The man was conscious but had sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident.
APM personnel provided immediate first aid at the location before transporting the victim to Lawas Hospital for further medical treatment. The operation was completed smoothly, with the situation brought under control shortly after the team’s arrival.
This case highlights the importance of rapid response in road accidents, which remain a pressing public safety issue across Sarawak. According to traffic safety experts, minor injuries are common in such incidents, but without timely intervention, victims can face complications. The presence of trained emergency responders ensures that injured individuals receive stabilising care before being admitted to hospital.
The Lawas District Civil Defence Force has reiterated its commitment to community welfare, emphasising that public safety remains its top priority. Officials reminded residents to remain cautious on the roads, stressing the importance of obeying traffic regulations, driving carefully, and staying alert to avoid accidents.
Road safety continues to be a major concern in Malaysia, with authorities frequently urging drivers to adopt defensive driving practices. In rural districts such as Lawas, where roads may be narrow and less illuminated, vigilance is particularly crucial during evening hours.
The Civil Defence Force has also encouraged the public to make use of emergency hotlines in the event of accidents or other urgent situations. Residents can contact Lawas PKOD directly at 085-262073, or use the national emergency line for immediate assistance.
Community members expressed appreciation for the quick response, noting that the presence of APM officers provided reassurance during a stressful situation. The intervention not only ensured the victim received timely medical care but also reinforced the importance of professional emergency services in safeguarding lives.
The Lawas APM continues to uphold its operational principles of readiness and integrity, reminding the public of its guiding motto: “Ready and Fast with Integrity.” The department also reinforces its commitment: “There is a Disaster, Call APM.”
As Sarawak undergoes ongoing development and increased traffic activity, authorities stress that road safety must remain a shared responsibility. Drivers are urged to exercise caution, pedestrians to remain alert, and communities to support emergency responders by reporting incidents promptly.
The latest operation in Lawas once again demonstrates the crucial role of APM in maintaining public safety and reinforcing trust within the community.
