MATANG – A total of 809 residents from the N.6 Tupong State Legislative Assembly constituency have received assistance under the 2026 Class B2 Driving Licence Assistance Programme.
The beneficiaries were recognised during a handover ceremony held at the SUPP Hall along Jalan Sungai Tengah on Sunday, 9 August 2026.
The ceremony was officiated by YB Dato Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, Chief Political Secretary to the Premier of Sarawak and State Legislative Assembly Member for N.6 Tupong.
The programme was introduced to assist eligible residents in obtaining a valid Class B2 motorcycle driving licence through the established licensing process.
According to the programme organisers, the 809 successful candidates completed the required screening before sitting for and passing the prescribed theoretical and practical tests.
The completion of the process means the recipients have now obtained their Class B2 driving licences in accordance with the applicable requirements.
The initiative also aims to improve access to legal driving licences among members of the local community.
Having a valid licence allows motorists to operate motorcycles legally while also ensuring that they have gone through the required testing process before being allowed to drive on public roads.
The programme further highlights the importance of compliance with road regulations and responsible road use.

Also attending the ceremony was YBrs. Tuan Norizan Jili, Director of the Road Transport Department Malaysia (JPJ) Sarawak.
His attendance represented JPJ Sarawak’s involvement in supporting the implementation of the licensing assistance programme.
JPJ Sarawak plays a role in ensuring that the licensing process is conducted according to the relevant rules, procedures and standards.
The department’s participation also reflects cooperation between the relevant authorities and community representatives in delivering the programme to eligible candidates.
The successful completion of the programme involved cooperation from various parties responsible for screening applicants, administering the required tests and facilitating the licensing process.
The organisers said the outcome demonstrated the importance of continued cooperation in initiatives designed to provide practical assistance to local communities.
