KUCHING – Perak Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad arrived in Kuching on Sunday to continue his official working visit to Sarawak, following a programme in Miri the previous day.
Saarani arrived in Kuching on the afternoon of 9 August 2026 with his entourage.
He was welcomed upon arrival by Sarawak Deputy Minister of Transport (Marine and River Transport), Datuk Henry Harry Jinep.
Sarawak State Immigration Director Abdul Halim Abang Naili and Kuching District Police Chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu were also present to receive the Perak Menteri Besar.
Following his arrival, Saarani proceeded to Serikin for a visit to the construction site of the Serikin Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex.
The visit to the project site forms part of his working programme during his stay in Sarawak.
The Serikin ICQS Complex is among the locations included in Saarani’s schedule as he continues his official engagements in the state.
His visit also includes meetings and briefings involving government and security-related agencies.
Among the scheduled activities is the Perak State Security Committee (JKKN) Meeting.
Saarani is also expected to attend a briefing and working visit at the Sarawak Malaysian Immigration Department.
The programme provides an opportunity for discussions involving immigration administration and matters related to the movement of people across the state.
The Perak Menteri Besar’s visit to Sarawak began with engagements in Miri on 8 August before continuing in Kuching on Sunday.
His itinerary covers several locations and activities involving government agencies and public institutions.
Apart from official meetings and site visits, Saarani is scheduled to tour Kuching city during his stay.
The programme also includes a visit to the Borneo Cultures Museum, one of the city’s major cultural institutions.
The museum visit is part of his scheduled activities before the conclusion of his official programme in Sarawak.
Saarani is expected to remain in Sarawak until 11 August 2026.
His working visit brings together a number of engagements covering government administration, security, immigration and local development.
The visit to the Serikin ICQS construction site also forms part of the itinerary involving border-related infrastructure.
Serikin is located in the Bau area near the Sarawak-Kalimantan border, making the ICQS complex relevant to cross-border movement and related government operations.
During the visit, Saarani is scheduled to continue meeting relevant officials and gaining briefings on matters included in his programme.
The presence of representatives from Sarawak’s Immigration Department and the police during his arrival reflects the involvement of state and federal agencies in the visit.
The scheduled programme in Kuching follows his earlier engagements in Miri and is expected to continue over the next two days.
His itinerary combines official government activities with visits to selected locations in Sarawak.
The Perak Menteri Besar’s visit is scheduled to conclude on 11 August, after which he will complete his official working programme in the state.
The Sarawak leg of the visit includes the Serikin ICQS construction site, the Sarawak Malaysian Immigration Department, the Perak State Security Committee meeting and several activities in Kuching.
The programme also includes a visit to the Borneo Cultures Museum, providing an opportunity to learn more about the cultural heritage of Sarawak during his stay.
Saarani’s arrival in Kuching marks the continuation of his official engagements in Sarawak following his visit to Miri on Saturday.
The remaining programme will see him travel between scheduled government engagements and locations in and around Kuching before concluding the working visit on Tuesday, 11 August 2026.
