TABAROK – Firefighters continued efforts to contain a fire affecting four acres at Ladang Tabarok, Sri Aman, on Sunday, 9 August 2026.
The operation was a continuation of firefighting efforts following a fire reported at the plantation area the previous day.
The incident was initially reported on Saturday, 8 August, with the Sri Aman Fire and Rescue Station receiving the emergency call at 7.50pm. Ladang Tabarok is located approximately 17km from the Sri Aman Fire and Rescue Station.
The operation on Sunday was led by PBK I (TBK I) Mohd Fadhli bin Buyong, who served as the operations commander for Day 2 of the response.
The Sri Aman Fire and Rescue Station deployed an FRT Scania fire appliance bearing registration number BME 7039 and an EMRS vehicle bearing registration number BMY 4446.
Four firefighters were assigned to the FRT vehicle, while one personnel operated with the EMRS unit. Two UKPS personnel and three members of the Royal Malaysia Police were also involved at the location.
Upon arriving at the incident area, firefighters found that the fire had affected four acres, including areas where remnants of the previous day’s fire remained.
The team carried out an assessment before beginning further firefighting efforts using full personal protective equipment.
Firefighters deployed a 100-foot water line connected to a divider branch, followed by approximately 400 feet of hose and two nozzles.
Water for the operation had to be obtained from an open water source located approximately 1km from the fire area.
The water supply arrangement required the firefighting machinery to repeatedly draw water from the open source to support the operation.
Despite the logistical challenges, the firefighters managed to extinguish approximately two acres of the affected area during Sunday’s operation.
However, smoke and the potential for remaining fire were still detected in the central section of the affected area.
Firefighters therefore continued working to establish a firebreak and prevent the remaining fire from spreading to other areas.
The operation was also affected by the absence of a fire hydrant at the incident location.
Another challenge was the distance to the available water source, which was approximately 1km from the fire site.
Weather conditions also presented difficulties, with rainfall coverage reported to be less satisfactory during the operation.
The firefighters continued monitoring and extinguishing efforts to reduce the possibility of the fire spreading beyond the affected area.
Further firefighting work was planned for the following day, subject to instructions following discussions between the Zone Head, Deputy Station Head and Station Operations Officer. The operation for Sunday ended at 5pm.
Before leaving the location, firefighters assessed the area and confirmed that there was no other immediate danger requiring them to remain at the scene.
The team subsequently returned to the Sri Aman Fire and Rescue Station. The operation report stated that firefighting efforts would resume the following day as instructed by the Zone Head.
The incident involved a fire affecting an area of four acres at Ladang Tabarok, with approximately two acres successfully extinguished during the Day 2 operation.
Firefighters continued to address remaining smoke and potential hotspots in the central section while establishing a firebreak as part of efforts to prevent further spread.
The report did not provide information on the cause of the fire or any reported injuries or property damage arising from the incident.
