Two Foreign Women Nabbed in Penampang Drug Bust

KOTA KINABALU, Jan 6 – Two foreign women in their 20s were detained during a police raid on a condominium in Penampang on Monday night for suspected drug dealing.

Penampang District Police Chief Superintendent Sammy Newton said the raid took place at approximately 10:30 pm. Authorities discovered suspicious black and transparent plastic packets containing illegal substances during the inspection.

The seized items included six packets of ecstasy weighing 169.77 grams and one packet of ketamine weighing 1.46 grams. Further investigations revealed that both suspects tested positive for ketamine.

Superintendent Sammy stated that the suspects are currently remanded and the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. If convicted, the suspects could face severe penalties, including a maximum of 30 years’ imprisonment, the death penalty, or up to 12 strokes of the cane.

“The public is strongly urged to stay away from drug-related activities and cooperate with the police by providing any information on illegal activities. Your support helps us in maintaining safety and security in the community,” Sammy said in a statement.

This arrest highlights the ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to crack down on drug trafficking and misuse in Sabah.
