Six Roads to Close for Sabah & Sarawak Legal Year Parade Tomorrow

KUCHING – Road users in Kuching are urged to take note of six road closures tomorrow (Jan 10) for the parade marking the Sabah and Sarawak Legal Year 2025.

Kuching police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah announced that the closures will be implemented in stages starting from 6 am to ensure smooth traffic flow and the safety of participants.

The affected roads are as follows:

  • Jalan Gambir towards Jalan Main Bazaar
  • Jalan Main Bazaar towards Jalan Pearl
  • Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg towards Jalan Barrack
  • Jalan Barrack towards Jalan Masjid
  • Padang Pasir roundabout towards Jalan Masjid
  • Jalan P. Ramlee towards Jalan Masjid

The parade will begin at the Old Court House and conclude at the Hikmah Exchange Event Centre.

Plan Your Route in Advance
Mohd Farhan urged the public to avoid parking along the roadsides and to plan alternative routes to reduce traffic congestion. “These closures are necessary to ensure the safety and success of the event. We appreciate the public’s understanding and cooperation,” he said.

Drivers are encouraged to use GPS navigation or traffic apps to find alternate routes. For commuters needing further assistance, the Kuching Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division can be contacted at 082-259900.

This significant annual event symbolises the opening of the legal year and serves to celebrate the contributions of the legal fraternity in Sabah and Sarawak.
