Flash Flood Hits Kampung Tringgus Rabak Rotan, Eight Houses Affected

BAU, Jan 21 – A flash flood struck Kampung Tringgus Rabak Rotan in Bau earlier tonight, leaving eight houses inundated by rising waters.

The Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM) reported that the Bau district operations control centre received an emergency call about the incident at 7.05pm.

APM personnel were immediately dispatched to the scene at 7.28pm and arrived at the affected area by 8pm.

“Continuous rain caused several houses in low-lying areas near the stream to be affected. The water level is now receding,” the report noted.

While there are no reports of casualties or injuries, the flash flood has left residents concerned about possible recurring incidents as weather conditions remain unpredictable. The current weather at the location is still drizzling.

As of now, no temporary flood relief centres (PPS) have been opened, with residents opting to stay in their homes as the water level gradually subsides. Authorities continue to monitor the situation and advise villagers to stay vigilant, particularly in areas prone to flash floods.
