KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has extended his warm Chinese New Year greetings to the people of Sarawak, particularly the Chinese community, as they welcome the Year of the Snake.

In his New Year message, the Premier highlighted the symbolic significance of the Year of the Snake, often associated with wisdom, intuition, and transformation. He encouraged Sarawakians to embody these traits to navigate opportunities and challenges in the year ahead.

“Let us learn from the past and move forward with wisdom, awareness, and compassion,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of resilience and unity as key to a prosperous future.

The Premier also acknowledged the role of Chinese New Year in fostering unity and harmony in Sarawak’s diverse society. He praised the tradition of open houses and festive visits, which help strengthen bonds across communities.

“For all of us in this diverse state, Chinese New Year is not just a celebration for one community but a time for everyone to come together,” he said.

He expressed hope that the celebrations would continue to promote peace and understanding among Sarawak’s many ethnic and religious groups, serving as a platform to celebrate the state’s unique cultural diversity.

“Let us all continue to work towards strengthening unity in Sarawak, where we celebrate our differences and embrace the values that make us stronger together,” the Premier added.

The Premier concluded his message by wishing everyone good health, happiness, and success in the coming year, reflecting his aspirations for a harmonious and prosperous Sarawak.
