Abang Johari Visits Lo Khere Chiang’s Home for CNY 2025 Festivities

KUCHING, Jan 30: Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, marked the upcoming 2025 Chinese New Year celebrations with a visit to the residence of Batu Kitang State Assemblyman, Dato Lo Khere Chiang, earlier today.

The Premier’s arrival at around 10:55 am was met with a warm welcome from Khere Chiang and his family. The visit began with the traditional “Yee Sang” tossing ceremony, a symbolic gesture representing prosperity, good fortune, and unity. Following the ceremony, the guests enjoyed a meal together, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and celebration.

Accompanying the Premier was Sarawak Deputy Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications (Utilities), Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi. The visit highlighted the strong bond between Sarawak’s leaders and the community, especially during festive occasions.

Speaking to reporters, Khere Chiang expressed his pride in Sarawak’s remarkable progress under Abang Johari’s leadership. He praised the state’s development, particularly in education, and acknowledged the Premier’s recent announcement of a RM15 billion allocation for Sarawak, the highest in Malaysia.

“If Sarawak continues to thrive, we could reach RM20 billion by the end of this year. The Premier has also prioritized education, ensuring opportunities for both male and female students. This is a significant step forward for our state,” Khere Chiang said.

He also extended his heartfelt Chinese New Year wishes to the community, especially those celebrating the Year of the Snake in 2025. “I wish everyone in N13 Batu Kitang and across Sarawak a Happy Chinese New Year. I am deeply honored by the Premier’s visit to my humble home. His presence means a lot to me and my family,” he added.
