BELAGA — The National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) Sarawak has stepped up its efforts to strengthen public safety and community relations in Sungai Asap, Belaga, through a series of targeted operations and engagement programmes held from 18 to 19 November 2025.
In a Special Prevention Operation conducted together with the Malaysian Immigration Department, Kapit Division, authorities arrested 28 individuals. The arrests involved 22 men, three women, and three foreigners from Indonesia. Two locations suspected of operating as drug distribution dens were also dismantled with the cooperation of local community leaders, marking a firm stand against illegal activities threatening rural safety.

AADK Sarawak also focused on rehabilitation and family support. Through its Treatment and Rehabilitation Branch, the agency carried out Home Visit activities involving four longhouses. These visits aimed to monitor the progress of clients undergoing recovery while strengthening family involvement, which remains a crucial pillar in long-term rehabilitation.
Community outreach was another key component of the two-day initiative. A Community Engagement Programme held at the Kulit Longhouse Hall brought together more than 200 residents. The event was officiated by Belaga District Officer Puan Bidah Lujah and attended by AADK Sarawak Director, Tuan Abdul Hamediee bin Ibrahim. The programme featured dialogue sessions, information sharing, and cultural performances to promote awareness and foster unity.
AADK Sarawak reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining an inclusive approach in combating drug abuse. The agency emphasised that strong partnerships with government departments, enforcement agencies and local communities are essential to improving safety and ensuring lasting recovery among affected individuals.
With continued cooperation on the ground, AADK aims to build a safer, healthier, and more resilient community in Belaga and across Sarawak.
