KUCHING: AFFIN Bank has expanded its footprint in Sarawak with the launch of a new branch in Satok, reaffirming its commitment to support the state’s development priorities in urban renewal, financial inclusivity and digitalisation.
Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg said the opening of the branch is not just a corporate milestone, but a symbol of confidence in Sarawak’s economic progress.
He highlighted that financial institutions like AFFIN are key to fostering inclusive growth, especially in empowering small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
“This is where AFFIN’s role becomes crucial, with tailored financial products, advisory services, and proactive approaches that can unlock their true potential, help them navigate challenges, seize opportunities, and expand their reach — not only in Sarawak, but across Malaysia and beyond,” said the Premier in a speech delivered by Sarawak Financial Secretary, Dato Sri Dr. Wan Lizozman Wan Omar during the official launch on Monday.
He emphasised that AFFIN’s active engagement with SMEs will directly enhance the socio-economic well-being of local communities and strengthen the state’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
“AFFIN has proven itself to be a true partner in our development by supporting SMEs, which form the backbone of our economy. Through wider access to financing, business support, and digital tools, our SMEs can thrive and compete more effectively,” he added.
The event was attended by AFFIN Bank Berhad Chairman, Dato Agil Natt; AFFIN Islamic Bank Berhad Chairman, Musa Abdul Malek; Board Member Gregory Fernandes; and AFFIN Bank Berhad President and CEO, Datuk Wan Razly Abdullah, among other distinguished guests.
