Yang di-Pertuan Agong Briefed on Special Action Group Developments

His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim, who serves as Colonel Commandant of the Special Action Group (GGK), today received a detailed briefing on the unit’s latest developments.

The session was conducted in Johor Bahru by Major General Dato’ Ahmad Shuhaimi Mat Wajab, Commander of the 21st Special Action Group. The briefing covered strategic updates, operational progress, and upcoming initiatives under the GGK.

Among the key matters presented was the Procurement Plan (RP2) under the Thirteenth Malaysia Plan (13MP), which outlines future acquisitions and capability enhancements for the regiment. The plan is expected to strengthen the GGK’s operational readiness and ensure its continued role in safeguarding national security.

His Majesty was also briefed on preparations for the Diamond Jubilee celebration of the Special Action Regiment, with Phase Two scheduled to take place in Melaka. The milestone event will commemorate the regiment’s long-standing service and achievements since its establishment.

Additionally, updates were shared on the construction of a combat diving pool at Camp Iskandar, Mersing, a facility designed to enhance training standards and improve the regiment’s specialised operational capabilities. The new infrastructure is part of broader efforts to modernise training facilities and support advanced tactical exercises.

The briefing reflects His Majesty’s close involvement in military affairs and his ongoing support for the GGK. As Colonel Commandant, Sultan Ibrahim has consistently emphasised the importance of readiness, discipline, and innovation in strengthening Malaysia’s defence forces.

The GGK, known for its elite role in special operations, continues to play a vital part in national defence strategy. With new initiatives under the 13MP and enhanced training facilities, the regiment is expected to further reinforce its position as one of Malaysia’s premier military units.
