Aidilfitri Aid Packages Distributed to Pending Families

KUCHING – A Hari Raya Aidilfitri aid distribution programme took place at Surau Darul Ibadah along Jalan Mendu, bringing festive cheer to families in the Pending area.

The event carried the theme “Salam Aidilfitri · Sharing Blessings” and was organised by the Kuching Women’s Union Club together with the SUPP Pending Branch and the Kampung Sri Maimunah Women’s Wing.

Held on Sunday evening, the programme saw 30 aid packages distributed to 30 Malay households. Recipients came from several nearby areas, including Jalan Mendu, Jalan Sanchai, Sungai Periok, and Kampung Sri Maimunah.

He said their work reflects the spirit of care and unity often seen during the festive season. He also extended his Hari Raya wishes to the community, hoping the celebration brings peace and happiness to everyone.

The programme reflects a long-standing tradition in Sarawak, where communities step forward to support one another during festive periods.

Hari Raya Aidilfitri marks the end of Ramadan and brings families together for gatherings, meals, and visits. Community programmes like this one help ensure the joy of the celebration reaches more households.

Local leaders stressed the value of inclusive initiatives. By reaching families from several neighbourhoods within Pending, the organisers ensured the festive assistance reached those who needed it across the area. Residents described the programme as a thoughtful gesture that shared the blessings of the season.

The partnership between civic organisations and grassroots groups showed how cooperation strengthens community support.

For many families, the aid packages provided practical help while also reminding them they are part of a caring and supportive neighbourhood.

With Hari Raya Aidilfitri approaching, similar programmes are expected to take place across Sarawak. The event at Surau Darul Ibadah stands as another example of how generosity and solidarity remain at the heart of the festive season.
