KUALA LUMPUR – Airod Sdn Bhd (AIROD), Malaysia’s leading aerospace maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) provider, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus to deliver comprehensive support for the Royal Malaysian Air Force’s (RMAF) A400M fleet.
The agreement was formalised on 21 April 2026 during the Defence Services Asia (DSA) Exhibition at MITEC. Under the MoU, AIROD will provide full MRO services for four Airbus A400M aircraft operated by the RMAF.

This collaboration strengthens Malaysia’s sovereign aerospace capabilities and reinforces AIROD’s role as a premier regional hub for military aviation support.
AIROD has more than four decades of experience in military aircraft maintenance, having served as the primary MRO provider for 14 Lockheed C-130 Hercules aircraft.
The company has also been an authorised Lockheed Martin maintenance centre for the C-130 platform for over 45 years, demonstrating consistent technical excellence and adherence to international standards.
Dato’ Edron Hayata Ahmad, NADI Group president, described the partnership as a milestone for Malaysia’s aerospace industry.
“This collaboration with Airbus marks a significant milestone for AIROD and the national aerospace industry. Our extensive experience with legacy platforms like the C-130, combined with our modern facilities and skilled workforce, positions us well to support next-generation aircraft such as the A400M,” he said.
AIROD operates advanced facilities in Subang, including specialised engine and propeller test cells, making it one of the few MRO providers in Southeast Asia with such capabilities.
These resources enable the company to deliver end-to-end maintenance solutions efficiently and cost-effectively.
The partnership is expected to enhance operational readiness, improve turnaround times, and contribute to the long-term sustainability of the RMAF’s transport fleet.
It also aligns with Malaysia’s broader aspirations to develop a robust, self-reliant aerospace ecosystem, opening opportunities for wider industry participation across the country, including regions such as Sarawak.
The collaboration underscores Malaysia’s commitment to strengthening defence aviation readiness while fostering industrial resilience and innovation in the aerospace sector.
