SERIAN – Members of the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in Serian District responded to an emergency call on Wednesday after a man sustained injuries in the QLLivestock area along Jalan Kuching–Serian Lama.
The incident was reported by the hospital, prompting immediate mobilisation of five APM personnel from the Serian District Operations Control Centre (PKOD).
The team was dispatched to provide assistance to the victim, who had suffered head and right leg injuries following a fall.
Upon arrival, the officers administered initial aid and ensured the victim was stabilised before arranging for his transfer to a hospital for further treatment.
The operation was completed safely, with all personnel returning to PKOD Serian after the task was concluded.
The case highlights the crucial role of APM in supporting local hospitals and communities during emergencies.
Their swift response ensured that the injured man received timely medical attention, reducing the risk of complications.
Falls remain one of the most common causes of injury in both urban and rural settings, often leading to head trauma and fractures.
In agricultural and livestock areas such as QLLivestock, uneven terrain and physical labour increase the likelihood of accidents.
Emergency services play a vital role in mitigating these risks by providing rapid intervention and safe transport to medical facilities.
APM Serian has consistently emphasised its commitment to public safety, operating under the principles of readiness, speed, and integrity.
Their collaboration with hospitals and other emergency services ensures that residents across the district are supported during critical incidents.
Authorities have reminded the public that emergency calls can be directed to 999, which connects to police, fire, hospital, and APM services.
This centralised system allows for coordinated responses to a wide range of emergencies, from accidents to natural disasters.
The successful handling of this case reflects the dedication of APM Serian in safeguarding community wellbeing.
Their presence across Sarawak continues to provide reassurance that help is available whenever emergencies arise.
