APM Limbang Captures 1-Metre Black Cobra in Kampung Sungai Poyan

LIMBANG – The Sarawak Civil Defence Force APM Limbang successfully captured a 1-metre black cobra in Kampung Sungai Poyan on Sunday, following a report from a local resident.

The operation was carried out by the APM Limbang Foxtrot Squad, led by L/Cpl. (PA) Awangku Mohd Izzudin bin Awangku Ramlee. The snake was located inside a complainant’s workshop and was safely captured without incident.

APM Limbang confirmed that the situation was handled efficiently and that both residents and personnel remained unharmed throughout the operation. Officers ensured that the area was secure before leaving, maintaining safety and order in the community.

Authorities reminded residents that encounters with venomous snakes should always be reported to trained professionals. Attempting to handle dangerous wildlife without proper equipment or expertise can pose serious risks. The APM team is equipped and trained to manage such cases safely.

For emergencies, members of the public are encouraged to contact APM Limbang at 085-210471 or the MERS emergency line at 999. Quick reporting allows the APM to respond efficiently and prevent potential harm to the community.

The Limbang unit emphasised its dedication to public safety through their mottos: “Wira Biru”, “APM Selamanya” and “Sedia, Quick, Integrity”. These guiding principles reflect the organisation’s commitment to readiness, professionalism, and swift response during emergency situations.

The APM Limbang Public Relations and Documentation Unit noted that operations such as these highlight the importance of community cooperation, preparedness, and professional emergency response to ensure safety in areas where wildlife encounters may occur.
