APM Lubok Antu Enhances Readiness for Northeast Monsoon Emergencies

LUBOK ANTU – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Lubok Antu District has stepped up its operational readiness ahead of the Northeast Monsoon (MTL), following a coordination meeting held at its district office yesterday afternoon.

District Civil Defence Officer Lt (PA) Desem Samuel said the session was convened to refine preparedness measures and ensure all response units are fully aligned for potential emergencies during the monsoon season.

The meeting brought together 21 personnel, including MTL response staff, members of the Disaster Operations Control Centre (PKOB), and administrative officers from the Lubok Antu District Civil Defence Office (PDPA).

We want to ensure that APM Lubok Antu’s operational readiness to face the MTL remains at its highest level at all times,” Lt Desem Samuel stated in a media release.

During the briefing, members received detailed instructions on task coordination, role distribution, and operational frameworks to be activated during unpredictable weather conditions.

Each unit was also guided on standard operating procedures (SOPs), PKOB coordination, and logistical requirements to guarantee swift and effective emergency response.

Lt Desem Samuel added that the engagement would strengthen inter-unit cooperation and enhance overall preparedness for the challenges posed by this year’s Northeast Monsoon.

The initiative reflects Sarawak’s broader disaster management strategy, which prioritises early coordination and readiness to minimise risks in flood-prone and vulnerable areas.

Similar sessions are being held across districts to ensure communities are safeguarded during seasonal weather changes.
