MATU – A call came in on 23 March 2026 reporting a pest issue at a home in Kampung Sekaan Besar, prompting a response from the District Operations Control Centre (PKOD).
When the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM Matu) team arrived, the complainant led them to a storeroom where a black ant nest had formed under the roof. Officers assessed the situation, prepared their equipment, and began the operation.
Using an insecticide spray, identified as Ridsect, the team cleared the nest without complications. The area was checked afterward and confirmed safe, with no further risk to the household.
APM Matu noted that cases like this fall within its wider role in protecting the community. While many associate the unit with disasters and rescue work, it also handles smaller but important issues such as pest threats that can affect daily life.
The quick report from the resident helped the team act fast and resolve the issue before it grew worse. The department advised the public not to handle such situations on their own, as trained personnel are better equipped to manage them safely.
Residents are encouraged to report similar cases through the proper channels. APM Matu can be reached at 084-832208, available around the clock, or through the national emergency number 999 for immediate assistance.
The department continues to stay ready for all types of calls, from major emergencies to everyday concerns that impact safety at home.
