MATU – An emergency call came in on 23 March 2026 reporting a bush fire behind a house in Kampung Sekaan, setting off a rapid response from the District Operations Control Centre (PKOD).
When the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM Matu) team arrived, they found the fire had already spread to a nearby home.
Crews moved in quickly, working alongside other agencies to contain the flames and protect surrounding properties.
The fire was brought under control and fully extinguished without any reported injuries. Authorities are still looking into what caused it.
At the scene, responders focused on securing the area before wrapping up operations. The incident was handled without complications, reflecting the team’s readiness to deal with emergencies on short notice.
Fires like this remain a concern in parts of Sarawak, especially in rural areas where homes sit close to vegetation. Fast response plays a big role in stopping small fires from turning into larger threats.
APM Matu again urged residents to report emergencies as soon as they happen. Early calls help crews arrive faster and limit damage.
For assistance, residents can contact APM Matu at 084-832208 or dial 999. These lines connect directly to trained personnel who are ready to respond at any time.
The department continues to stand by its message, “There is a Disaster; Call APM”, a reminder that help is always within reach when it’s needed most.
