APM Matu Captures 1.5m Snake in Kampung Tian

MATU – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in Matu District safely captured a snake inside a house in Kampung Tian on March 20 after receiving an emergency call.

The District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) was alerted early in the morning about a reptile spotted in a home. When officers arrived, the resident showed them where the snake was hiding, inside a closet.

The team prepared their equipment and carried out the operation carefully. The snake, identified as a sand boa measuring about 1.5 metres, was captured without incident and taken away for further action.

Encounters with snakes are not unusual in rural parts of Sarawak, especially during rainy periods when animals look for shelter indoors. Residents are advised to stay alert and avoid handling such situations on their own.

People in the area expressed relief at the quick response, noting the risks such incidents pose, particularly to children. The operation also reflected APM Matu’s readiness to respond when needed.

APM reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, whether dealing with wildlife, road accidents, floods, or other emergencies. Its message remains clear: “There is a Disaster, Call APM.”
