KUCHING – The Sarawak Civil Defence Force APM has organized a Training Unit Reporting Workshop 2026 with the aim of improving reporting standards and documentation practices among its units.
The one-day workshop, which was conducted on Saturday, brought together personnel involved in training management, reporting, and documentation. This workshop was coordinated by the Public Relations and Documentation Unit of the Sarawak Civil Defence Centre (PUSPA) in their continuous efforts to improve the professionalism and accountability of the organisation.
The program started with an introduction to the role and responsibilities of the Training Unit, which highlighted the significance of reporting in civil defence activities. The participants were informed about the role of reporting in decision-making and planning in emergency response organisations.
One of the important segments of the workshop involved the procedures for writing training reports. The officers were trained on the reporting formats, the necessary details required, and the best practices to ensure that all APM units in Sarawak have the same format for their training reports.
Another key element was data and documentation filling, where the training of the participants involved training on how to keep records. This was important because it indicated that records should be kept in a way that will be useful in the future, especially in large-scale operations.
The workshop also covered training analysis and evaluation, where the officers were equipped with skills to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs. The officers were also introduced to methods of evaluation that include measuring learning outcomes, operational readiness, and areas for improvement.
In the final part, focus was laid on summarizing reports and continuous improvement. The audience was encouraged to make use of the reporting process not only for compliance purposes, but also as a strategic tool to point out areas for improvement and suggest ways to improve future training programs.
As stated by APM Sarawak, well-structured and quality reporting is an important aspect in keeping the state ready and ensuring that the officers are well-prepared to face emergencies. Documenting is also an important aspect in sharing knowledge among the districts and developing officers.
Training workshops like this are part of APM’s efforts in capacity building, which are in line with the national disaster management plan of the Prime Minister’s Department. Through capacity building, APM can provide more efficient and transparent services to the public.
The Sarawak Civil Defence Centre reported that such workshops will continue to be conducted periodically to ensure that the standard of reporting continues to improve with the latest best practices. APM reiterated its commitment to its guiding principle, “Ready, Fast, With Integrity”, emphasizing the value of preparedness, professionalism, and accountability in protecting communities in Sarawak.
