SELANGAU – The Civil Defence Force (APM) in Selangau acted promptly on Monday, 2 March 2026, following a public report of insects gathering under the roof of a shop at Selangau Market.
The Selangau District Operations Control Centre received the call at 1.12pm, alerting authorities to the presence of insects at Shop 168. Four APM personnel were immediately mobilised to the site.
Upon inspection, the team identified the insects as bees clustered beneath the roof structure. Recognising the potential risk to traders and visitors, officers carried out extermination work using ridsect spray.
The operation was completed without incident, and the area was declared safe shortly afterwards. APM confirmed that the situation was under control and posed no further danger to the public.
Bee infestations in commercial areas can present hazards, particularly in crowded spaces such as markets. Stings may cause allergic reactions in some individuals, making swift intervention essential to prevent harm.
