Local authorities emphasised that the swift mobilisation of APM officers ensured that victims received prompt assistance.

The Civil Defence Force plays a crucial role in providing emergency response across Sarawak, particularly in rural districts where access to medical facilities can be limited.

Road accidents remain a pressing concern in Sarawak, especially along major routes such as the Sibu-Bintulu highway. The stretch has seen frequent incidents due to heavy traffic, long-distance travel, and challenging road conditions.

Safety campaigns have repeatedly urged drivers to exercise caution, particularly during weekends and festive seasons when traffic volume increases.

The Selangau District Operations Control Centre continues to encourage residents to contact the APM hotline in case of emergencies.

The service operates 24 hours a day, providing immediate support for road accidents, natural disasters, and other urgent situations. The hotline number is 084-891285.

Authorities have also reminded the public that trauma following accidents can affect victims even when physical injuries are minimal.

Emergency responders are trained to provide psychological support alongside medical care, ensuring victims are stabilised both physically and emotionally.

The incident highlights the importance of community vigilance and rapid reporting. By alerting authorities quickly, members of the public played a vital role in ensuring timely intervention.

While investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing, officials have reiterated the need for defensive driving and adherence to road safety regulations.

The Civil Defence Force has assured residents that it remains committed to safeguarding communities across Selangau and wider Sarawak.
