SIMUNJAN – A swift response by the Simunjan District Operations Control Centre ensured the safe removal of an insect nest discovered in Kampung Hijrah Phase 1 on 19 April 2026.
Authorities confirmed that an emergency call was received reporting the presence of the nest in front of a resident’s home.
Charlie Squad, comprising three members of the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), was immediately dispatched to the site.
Upon arrival, the team assessed the situation and carried out the destruction operation. The nest was successfully eliminated without incident, ensuring the safety of the household and surrounding community.
Local officials emphasised that such operations are part of the district’s ongoing commitment to community safety.
Insect nests, particularly those located near residential areas, can pose risks to public health, as stings may trigger allergic reactions or lead to medical emergencies.
The APM highlighted that residents should avoid attempting to remove nests themselves, as improper handling can provoke aggressive behaviour from insects. Instead, they are encouraged to contact trained authorities for assistance.
This incident underscores the importance of rapid response and coordination in protecting communities from environmental hazards.
The successful operation reflects the readiness of the Simunjan Civil Defence team to act promptly in safeguarding public welfare.
