SONG – The Song District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) received an emergency call on Sunday, 22 March 2026, involving a drowning case at Nanga Bangkit. The incident was reported by the Song District Police.
According to initial information, the victim had been bathing in the river with friends around 12:50 pm. At one point, he climbed onto a nearby cliff. Moments later, his friends noticed he was no longer in sight.
Realising something was wrong, one of them quickly raised the alarm and sought help from nearby longhouse residents. Emergency teams were then dispatched to the scene to begin search and rescue efforts.
Authorities have reminded the public that rivers can be unpredictable, especially during unsupervised activities. They urged residents to stay cautious during outings and avoid unnecessary risks.
This incident also shows how important quick action is in emergencies. The fast response from the victim’s friends and local residents helped alert authorities without delay.
