TANJUNG MANIS – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in Tanjung Manis District responded to an emergency call on Thursday, 7 May 2026, after residents reported the presence of an aggressive wild dog in Lorong Q9, Perumahan Pusaka Tanjung Manis.
The incident, which occurred in the morning, prompted immediate mobilisation of four APM personnel to the location. Their task was to monitor the situation and take initial action to safeguard the community.
Upon arrival, the team assessed the animal’s behaviour and determined that the dog was highly aggressive, making it unsafe for APM members to attempt direct handling.
Given the risks involved, the team refrained from engaging further and instead sought assistance from the Matu Daro District Council (MDMD).
The case was subsequently handed over to MDMD for follow-up measures, ensuring that the situation would be managed by the appropriate authorities with the necessary expertise and resources.
Local residents expressed concern over the incident, noting that aggressive stray or wild dogs can pose serious risks to public safety, particularly in residential areas.
Such cases highlight the importance of swift coordination between emergency services and local councils to prevent harm.
APM Tanjung Manis reiterated its commitment to community safety, emphasising that its personnel remain on standby to respond to emergencies ranging from wildlife encounters to natural disasters.
Officials also reminded the public to report similar incidents promptly to ensure timely intervention. The incident serves as a reminder of the challenges posed by stray and wild animals in urban and semi-urban settings.
Authorities continue to encourage residents to exercise caution and avoid direct confrontation with aggressive animals, instead relying on trained personnel to manage such situations.
With the case now under the jurisdiction of MDMD, further action will be taken to address the threat and restore safety in the affected neighbourhood.
