TATAU, SARAWAK — A man suffering from serious kidney issues and breathing difficulties was given emergency assistance by the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in Kampung Baru, Tatau, yesterday evening.
The quick action by APM Tatau was made possible after the Tatau Unit Operations Control Centre received a distress call from a concerned member of the public at 4.25pm.

In response, a three-member Charlie Squad was immediately deployed to the location.
“Upon arrival, the complainant informed our team that the victim was weak, experiencing shortness of breath, and showed symptoms of bleeding in the urine,” said a spokesperson from APM Tatau.
Recognising the urgency of the situation, the team quickly suited up in personal protective equipment (PPE) to safely assist the victim. The patient was then carefully placed in the APM’s operational vehicle.
From there, the team transported the man to the Tatau Health Clinic, where he was handed over to medical staff for further treatment.
The swift coordination between the public and the APM team highlights the importance of prompt emergency response in rural areas like Tatau, where access to medical facilities can be limited.
APM Tatau continues to play a crucial role in assisting medical emergencies, especially in situations where time is critical. The agency encourages the public to contact them immediately in such emergencies so that help can be provided as fast as possible.
Let us all hope for the speedy recovery of the victim and continued commitment from our local emergency response teams in saving lives across the region.
