TELANG USAN – A motorist in Telang Usan required emergency assistance on Friday morning after accidentally locking his car with the keys inside.
The Telang Usan District Operations Control Centre received a call at around 11.05am reporting the incident.
Bravo Squad was immediately deployed to the scene, located approximately five kilometres away. The team consisted of three members led by Pbt. (PA) Hilkia Balan Nuh.
Upon arrival, the squad met with the complainant, a man in his fifties, who explained that he had mistakenly left his keys inside the locked vehicle.
Emergency personnel quickly assessed the situation and began operations to unlock the car. Bravo Squad successfully opened the vehicle door without causing damage, allowing the owner to retrieve his keys.
Once the task was completed, the team returned to the Telang Usan District Operations Control Centre. Cases of locked vehicles are not uncommon in Sarawak, particularly in rural districts where immediate roadside assistance services may be limited.
Local emergency squads often step in to provide support, ensuring that residents are not left stranded. Authorities have reminded the public to remain vigilant when handling car keys, as such incidents can lead to unnecessary delays and potential risks.
Especially if children or vulnerable individuals are inside the vehicle. In this case, no one was trapped inside, and the situation was resolved swiftly.
The Civil Defence Force continues to encourage community members to contact district control centres promptly whenever assistance is required.
Their rapid response capability is designed to handle a wide range of emergencies, from road accidents to locked car cases, ensuring public safety across Sarawak’s districts.
This latest incident highlights the importance of preparedness and the role of local emergency squads in maintaining community confidence.
While minor in nature compared to larger emergencies, locked car cases demonstrate the everyday challenges faced by residents and the value of having trained personnel ready to assist.
