PAKAN – A fallen tree that obstructed traffic along Jalan Wak in Pakan was swiftly removed by the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) earlier today.
The incident temporarily blocked access for vehicles, prompting immediate action from local rescue personnel.
Charlie Squad from APM Pakan was deployed to the scene with four members tasked to handle the operation.
Equipped with chainsaws and safety gear, the team worked to cut and clear the tree, ensuring that the route was fully reopened for motorists. The operation was completed within a short timeframe, restoring safe passage for all vehicles.
Authorities confirmed that the removal was carried out efficiently, with additional checks made to ensure no other trees posed a risk of falling in the area.
The team’s rapid response highlights the importance of preparedness in dealing with sudden environmental hazards, particularly during periods of unpredictable weather.
Fallen trees are a recurring challenge in rural districts across Sarawak, often caused by heavy rainfall and strong winds. Such incidents can disrupt daily travel, delay emergency services, and pose risks to nearby residents.
Local officials have urged communities to remain vigilant and report any signs of unstable trees or blocked roads to the relevant authorities.
The Civil Defence Force continues to play a crucial role in safeguarding public safety, responding to emergencies ranging from natural disasters to wildlife encounters.
Their ability to mobilise quickly and deploy specialised equipment has been vital in maintaining order and preventing accidents.
Residents expressed relief that the route was cleared promptly, allowing normal traffic flow to resume. The operation also serves as a reminder of the importance of community cooperation, as early reporting enables rescue teams to act before situations escalate.
APM reiterated its commitment to protecting the public, guided by its operational motto, “Ready Fast with Integrity”.
Officials emphasised that maintaining readiness and integrity in every mission is central to their work in ensuring the safety of Sarawak’s communities.
