ASAJAYA – Firefighters from the Asajaya Fire and Rescue Station extinguished a fire involving a pile of rubbish along Jalan Kampung Asajaya Ulu on Saturday, 22 August.
The incident was attended by the Alpha Team from the Asajaya Fire and Rescue Station under the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM). One LFRT Atego fire engine, registration BJU 5996, was deployed to the location.
PBK I Suhardi Bin Razali served as the operations commander during the response. Firefighters assessed the situation before beginning efforts to put out the burning rubbish.
The team used a hose reel supplied by the fire engine’s onboard water tank to extinguish the flames. The operation was carried out to bring the fire under control and ensure the affected area was no longer burning.
Garbage pile fires can spread to surrounding combustible materials if left unattended, particularly where dry rubbish or other flammable waste is present. Prompt intervention allows firefighters to contain the affected area and reduce the possibility of the fire spreading.
Following the extinguishing work, personnel checked the location to ensure the fire had been fully put out. The team also confirmed that conditions at the scene were safe before ending the operation.
Once the situation was assessed as under control, the firefighters left the location and returned to the Asajaya Fire and Rescue Station.
The incident report did not provide details of the size of the affected garbage pile or the cause of the fire. No information regarding injuries or property damage was included in the report.
The response was completed after firefighters had extinguished the fire and confirmed that there was no further immediate danger at the scene.
The Asajaya station continues to respond to emergency calls within its operational area, with firefighting teams deployed to assess incidents and take appropriate action based on conditions at the location.
