ASAJAYA – A total of 1,333 recipients under the 2025 Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) initiative received direct cash assistance during a two-day disbursement programme held at the Kampung Hall in Asajaya Ulu.
The aid was specifically provided to eligible individuals without access to bank accounts, ensuring that financial support reaches those who might otherwise face barriers to receiving assistance through conventional banking channels.
The programme, held over the weekend, saw 660 recipients attending on Saturday, followed by 673 on Sunday. The beneficiaries included senior citizens, single mothers, and low-income families classified under the B40 group.
Organised by the Sarawak Malaysian Treasury (PMS) in collaboration with the Samarahan Division Resident Office, the Asajaya District Office, and the Asajaya District Community and Tribal Heads (KMKK), the event aimed to ease the financial burden on vulnerable groups amid increasing living costs.
Registration counters opened as early as 8:00 a.m., with the support of dedicated staff helping to streamline the process and ensure smooth coordination. The timely distribution of cash aid directly to the hands of the recipients has been well received by the local community.
Officials noted that direct payment initiatives like this not only ensure efficient disbursement but also strengthen community trust in public assistance programmes.
