KUCHING: Angkatan Zaman Mangsang (AZAM) Sarawak continues to play a pivotal role in supporting Sarawak’s development agenda as the region moves towards its 2030 aspirations and beyond.
Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, emphasised that AZAM Sarawak functions not only as a strategic communication platform but also as a key contributor in nurturing an inclusive and resilient society prepared to face future challenges.
“AZAM’s role is increasingly significant in supporting the delivery of the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 inclusively, through communication approaches tailored to various layers of society.
“It is imperative that you continue to deliver the PCDS 2030 mission as a catalyst agency by playing a role to add value to government efforts by helping empower people through programmes and development initiatives that bring real impact,” he said.
He made the remarks during the Gawai AZAM Sarawak celebration ‘Begawai Chara Kitai’ held at a hotel here on Tuesday.
AZAM Sarawak’s empowerment efforts span across various initiatives aimed at equipping citizens with the knowledge and capacity to respond to opportunities and responsibilities tied to the state’s transformation goals.
Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah also acknowledged that while Sarawak has achieved high-income status, disparities remain across different community segments.
“In this regard, AZAM can be instrumental in guiding the people, offering mentorship, and encouraging inclusive participation in the state’s progress—regardless of race, religion, or background,” he added.
He expressed confidence that AZAM Sarawak would continue to remain relevant and progressive in realising the Sarawak Government’s vision under the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition.
Among those present were Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier Department (Corporate Affairs, Explanation and UKAS), Datuk Abdullah Saidol; AZAM Sarawak Chairman, Datu William Patrick Nyigor; CEO of AZAM Sarawak, Ali Suhaili; and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Women, Children and Community Welfare Sarawak (KPWK), Datu Felicia Tan Ya Hua.
