APM Sibu has reminded the public to remain vigilant when encountering wild animals, particularly snakes, which may pose risks if not handled properly.

Residents are advised to contact the relevant authorities immediately rather than attempting to deal with such situations themselves.

Snake sightings in residential areas are not uncommon in Sarawak, especially during periods of heavy rain or flooding when reptiles may seek shelter in homes.

Wildlife experts note that pythons, although generally non-venomous, can still be dangerous due to their strength and constriction abilities.

Community awareness and prompt reporting are seen as crucial in ensuring safety. APM officials expressed appreciation to the complainant for acting swiftly, enabling the team to respond in time.

The captured python has since been secured, and the case highlights the importance of cooperation between residents and emergency services in maintaining safety within neighbourhoods.
