Speaking at the festival’s closing ceremony on Sunday, Sarawak Minister of Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, who represented Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari, emphasized the festival’s role in stimulating demand across sectors such as accommodation, transport, food, and services.

“This festival not only strengthens community ties but also creates a ripple effect in the local economy,” he said, noting that the event offers a platform for entrepreneurs, farmers, and food vendors to showcase their products to both domestic and international visitors.

The festival, organized by the Balingian Melanau Generation Association (PGMB), featured traditional water sports like the Lumba Bidar regatta, cultural performances, exhibitions, and games such as mengelang balau and selipar gergasi, reflecting the rich heritage of the Melanau community.
