Four Major Development Projects Completed in Balingian Constituency

BALINGIAN – Four significant development projects have been completed in the Balingian constituency, marking a major step forward in improving local facilities and boosting economic growth. The projects were launched by Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi on Monday.

Implemented under the Dalat and Mukah District Council (MDDM), the initiatives involved millions of ringgit in allocations, covering commercial facilities, public utilities and community services.

Among the projects is the RM5 million Anjung Selera Balingian, which features 10 food and beverage outlets. The facility is designed to provide a conducive trading environment for local entrepreneurs while serving as a potential tourist attraction.

Also completed is the RM3 million Kuala Balingian Shopping Centre, comprising 20 shop units aimed at strengthening the economic position of small traders in the area. The centre is expected to become a focal point for local commerce and business activities.

In addition, a RM1.5 million Parking, Agu and Landscaping project has been carried out to improve public welfare and enhance the landscape of the Balingian market. The upgrades are intended to create a more organised and welcoming environment for residents and visitors.

The fourth initiative involves the renovation of the Balingian Resource Centre and the MDDM Office, with a budget of RM1.5 million. The project includes maintenance and the provision of new facilities, aimed at increasing the efficiency of government service delivery in the constituency.

Assemblyman Abdul Yakub emphasised that the projects reflect the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and supporting community development. He noted that the facilities would provide long-term benefits by strengthening unity, enhancing economic opportunities and improving the quality of life for residents.

The launch ceremony was attended by MDDM Secretary Abdul Razak Awang Bini and Balingian Sub-District Council Administrative Officer Abdul Malik Talip, highlighting the collaborative effort behind the projects.

These developments are part of Sarawak’s broader push to modernise infrastructure and empower local communities, ensuring that rural and semi-urban areas benefit from sustainable growth and improved public services.
