SIMUNJAN – Two Mosques in the Batang Sadong parliamentary constituency have been refurbished through the People-Friendly Project (PMR) 2024.
The completed upgrades were formally handed over to the community during a working visit by local MP Rodiyah Sapiee.
The initiative demonstrates the government’s ongoing commitment to enhancing basic and religious facilities in rural areas.
According to Rodiyah, such projects are crucial for ensuring the continued wellbeing of local residents.
The first project involved Surau Darul Iman in Kampung Rangkang, Simunjan. Here, an allocation of RM14,000 was provided as an Outright Grant for the installation of new carpets.
This improvement is designed to increase comfort for worshippers and support religious activities.
A more extensive refurbishment was carried out at Surau Darul Ibadah in Kampung Lalang Tengah, Gedong. This project, with a total cost of RM100,000, significantly expanded the surau’s facilities.
The work included the construction of separate male and female toilets, a storage room, and an ablution space.
Additionally, new flooring was installed, and speaker towers were erected to complete the essential amenities at the site.
The official handover ceremony attracted villagers, representatives from implementing agencies, and local community leaders, highlighting the project’s significance to the community.
