Batu Kawa, 23 May 2025 (Friday) – A joint site inspection was conducted by Pemanca Tan Kun Gee and the newly appointed MPP Councillor, Cr. Gerald Goh, to review the proposed infrastructure upgrades to the drainage system at Jalan Ketitir, Pines Square, Batu Kawa.

The site visit was aimed at assessing the progress and ongoing efforts by the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) Sarawak, particularly in ensuring proper drainage that supports sustainable urban development. Pemanca Tan personally briefed Cr. Gerald Goh on the importance of the project and the work completed thus far.
The tour also included a stop at Jalan Everbright Estate where local residents had earlier raised concerns about blocked drainage. These issues have led to stagnant water and potential flooding risks, especially during the rainy season. Cr. Gerald Goh expressed his appreciation for the feedback and promised to follow up with the relevant departments to resolve the problems.
“I’m grateful to be guided through this important inspection. It’s clear that well-planned drainage is essential for a healthy and liveable community,” said Cr. Gerald. He also acknowledged the teamwork and commitment shown by the local leadership and community members.
Also mentioned during the visit were Cr. Alvin Chong and Cr. Leng Chai Ak Mendu, who, together with Cr. Gerald Goh, share responsibility for the area, including N13 & N14 and Ward H of MPP. The collaborative approach was praised as a vital step towards efficient local governance.
Pemanca Tan emphasized that sustainable infrastructure projects like this not only enhance daily life but also reflect the community’s readiness to grow and adapt. “It’s an honour to serve and support improvements that benefit our people. Let’s work together for the betterment of Batu Kawa,” he added.
The inspection marks a proactive move by the local council towards addressing grassroots issues, reflecting a shared vision of a cleaner, safer, and more resilient community.
