Batu Kawa Fun Run 2026 to Unite Community in Support of RELA

Batu Kawa Fun Run 2026 to Unite Community in Support of RELA

KUCHING: The Batu Kawa Fun Run 2026 is set to bring together residents from across Kuching for a morning filled with energy, togetherness and community spirit. Scheduled to take place on 3 May 2026 at MJC, Batu Kawa, the event marks the first time such a large-scale fun run is being organised at the venue, making it a meaningful occasion for the local community.

Organised by Jabatan Sukarelawan Malaysia (RELA) Desa Wira Batu Kawa through the AJK RELA Kawasan Desa Wira, and co-organised by Y Sandals, the event is designed to be inclusive and welcoming. With two distances offered, namely 3KM and 5KM, the run is suitable for first-timers, families, casual walkers and experienced runners. The organisers hope the event will encourage people of all ages to take part without pressure, while enjoying a healthy and positive outdoor activity.

Beyond fitness, the Batu Kawa Fun Run 2026 carries a deeper purpose. It aims to raise awareness and public support for RELA Desa Wira, a community-based volunteer force that plays an important role in maintaining safety, order and cooperation within the Batu Kawa area. Through this event, the organisers seek to strengthen ties among residents, highlight the importance of volunteerism and promote unity within the community.

The event is expected to attract strong participation from the public, with the presence of a Guest of Honour tentatively confirmed as Deputy Premier of Sarawak, YB Datuk Amar Prof. Dr. Sim Kui Hian. His anticipated attendance reflects the significance of the initiative and the value placed on grassroots community efforts in Sarawak.

Participants can also look forward to added excitement on the day of the run. Co-organiser Y Sandals will be sponsoring 10 sets of lucky draw items, adding a celebratory element to the event. All registered participants will also receive special discount vouchers as part of their entitlements. The organisers have indicated that more details on lucky draw prizes will be announced gradually, encouraging the public to follow official updates.

Registration for the Batu Kawa Fun Run 2026 is currently open and will close on 31 March 2026 at 11.59pm. Participants can choose from several registration categories based on their preferred entitlements, with fees kept affordable to encourage wider participation. Registration is available online through the Ticket2u platform.

As Batu Kawa continues to grow, events such as this fun run reflect the strong community values that have long been part of local life. The Batu Kawa Fun Run 2026 is expected to be more than just a sporting event, but a shared experience that brings people together in support of a common cause.
