Strong Turnout Shows Trust in SUPP Batu Lintang Mobile Service

Strong Turnout Shows Trust in SUPP Batu Lintang Mobile Service

KUCHING — The Mobile Service programme organised by the Batu Lintang Branch once again received an impressive response as nearly 200 residents turned up for assistance during the latest session on 23 November. The strong turnout, even larger than the previous round, shows how deeply the community values accessible and on-the-ground support.

Held on a Sunday morning, the programme was strengthened with extra manpower and better logistics after the overwhelming crowd seen earlier in the month. Team Dong Ge, together with SUPP Batu Lintang, prepared more staff, additional seating and improved queue management to ensure smoother service. Despite these efforts, the number of residents who came seeking help still exceeded expectations.

Residents began lining up before 9am, even though the session was scheduled to run from 9am to 11am. According to MBKS Councillor John Wong, the queues continued to grow well past the closing time. The team chose to stay on, assisting every single resident who came forward. “We will help everyone who showed up, no matter how long extra we need to work,” said SUPP Batu Lintang Chairman, Sih Hua Tong, who expressed satisfaction with the strong response. “Our team is working hard to serve the people.”

The Mobile Service offered several popular forms of assistance, including applications for the Kenyalang Gold Card, Senior Citizen Health Benefits and the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) cash aid. These services remain crucial for many senior citizens and families who often require simple, face-to-face guidance when dealing with government aid.

Throughout the session, Team Dong Ge members continuously brought out extra chairs to accommodate elderly residents, ensuring they could wait comfortably despite the large crowd. The volunteers and officers worked patiently, explaining each application step-by-step and making sure no one was left behind. Many residents said they appreciated having services brought directly to their neighbourhood, saving them time and avoiding long trips to government offices.

The success of these back-to-back mobile programmes reflects a clear and growing community need. Batu Lintang Branch and Team Dong Ge have shown steady commitment by bringing assistance straight to the ground, strengthening trust between residents and their local representatives. Their efforts underline how grassroots initiatives can ease daily burdens, especially for senior citizens and families under financial stress.

SUPP Batu Lintang Branch extended its thanks to all residents for their patience and cooperation, and also praised the dedication of the team who worked tirelessly throughout the session.
