BAU – Police in Bau inspected 27 vehicles and 33 individuals during a traffic enforcement and monitoring operation conducted across several major roads in the district on Thursday (27 August).
The operation was carried out by three members of the Bau District Police Headquarters’ Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPTD IPD Bau) between 1.30pm and 3pm.
Police patrols and monitoring were conducted along Jalan Bau-Kuching, Jalan Bau-Serikin, Jalan Bau-Batu Kawa and Jalan Bau-Lundu, as well as Jalan Jambusan, Jalan Siniawan and areas around Bau town.
The operation formed part of enforcement efforts focused on traffic compliance and road safety. Police said the patrols also sought to help prevent road accidents and street gang activities in the areas covered.
During the three-hour operation, officers inspected 27 vehicles and checked 33 people.
A total of 11 PDRM (K) 257 summonses were issued using the MCOP/MCAD system. The enforcement results indicate that police took action against road users during the monitoring exercise where offences were identified.
The operation was conducted in good weather and proceeded smoothly, with the situation remaining under control throughout the assignment.
The roads covered by the patrol included routes connecting Bau with Kuching, Serikin, Batu Kawa and Lundu, alongside roads serving Jambusan and Siniawan. The monitoring also extended to the surrounding area of Bau town.
Police said continued attention to road behaviour remains important for all road users, particularly in relation to compliance with traffic regulations and safe driving practices.
BSPTD Bau urged motorists and other road users to observe traffic rules at all times and to control their speed according to road conditions. The public was also reminded to place safety ahead of actions that could put themselves or others at risk.
The reminder applies to motorists as well as other road users sharing the same routes. Careful and responsible behaviour on the road can reduce the risk of incidents and help protect other people using the road network.
The operation also highlighted the role of routine traffic monitoring in identifying violations and reinforcing compliance with road regulations. The issuance of 11 summonses during the exercise demonstrates that enforcement action formed a central part of the patrol.
Police encouraged road users not to wait until an accident occurs before taking road safety seriously. Drivers and riders were advised to remain alert, manage their speed and avoid behaviour that could endanger themselves or other road users.
The Bau operation concluded without reported disruption, with the assignment described as smooth and under control.
